In order to develop a more thorough understanding of the many perspectives of the settling of the American West we will be examining the personal narratives of those who witnessed this epic event unfold. Each of you will be researching a preselected individual in order to create a single PowerPoint slide that will reflect this person's experience of the American West. For this to be a true learning experience we must follow some important guidelines. These guidelines are as follows:
Westward Movement PowerPoint Presentations
*Note: This activity requires you to present information about westward movement to the class, in the form of PowerPoint presentations, according to the point of view of one selected group.
Project Guidelines:
1) You and your assigned partner must work together. If someone is not contributing they will be removed from the media center and receive a failing grade on this assignment.
2) I will provide a quick demonstration to help you refresh you PowerPoint skills.
3) You and your partner will share a computer and log in and save material under one person’s name.
4) Assigned web sites will be given according to the topic chosen to research.
5) You must complete a minimum of three slides; no more, no less.
6) Your presentation must have at least one image and no more than 3 (one per slide)—these images should correlate to your topic (being off topic will reduce your grade).
7) Your presentation should include at least one quote from an individual within the selected research topic.
8) KEEP IT SIMPLE! Do not try to get to fancy (I will not be grading for special animation components and backgrounds that are distracting will result in a grade deduction); you only have two days.
9) Group PowerPoints will be presented in class on Thursday and Friday. Presentations should be approximately 3-5 minutes.
